Who would have thought being beautiful was an issue

Being beautiful these days isn't about what personality you have, the sports your good at, the people you hang around. It is purely based around your 'looks'. This is where society is getting messed up because as everyone would tell you, 'you have to be attracted to the person to start dating them'. Yes it is half true. But many would say it isn't like that.

Many men and women who have been in a relationship with the same person for more than 50 years can tell you that society has changed in way that portrays social media as the most common source of cause. Social media is a definite yes to the way young females and even young men who are seeing celebrities being all the rage, being beautiful with not one blemish on them in these 'photographs and videos' these day. But being the 21st century many forget the amount of technological resources that are around today. Photoshop is all the rage, and believe it or not, I actually do a core unit on photoshop as being apart of my course. Any one can use it! And this is what is happening. Many celebrities are being put into photoshop to make look beautiful and also are being put into photoshop to look hideous as well! Didn't we all see that Miley Cyrus photo of comparing her butt to that of a chicken body? Yeah well obviously that isn't true because we all watched the MTV awards live, where it really didn't look like that on live TV. So, yes this is an example of looking really bad on photos being photoshopped but there also is the side of photoshop that makes anything look amazing.

Dove has released two campaign videos on youtube now that are wonderful in my eyes! And I absolutely love them. They are amazing for doing this and even thinking of doing this, and if I were able to reach every young woman and man out there and show them these videos I definitely would because it is truly inspiring. Ever since the video was published, Seventeen magazine which is an American based teenage magazine, has made sure that all of their photo shoots that are published are now not photoshopped, and if they are photoshopped, that will be noted on the photo somewhere! This is an amazing thing as well, as it is the first step to helping teenage self esteem levels become normal. As every single person in the world has faults, even if they don't want to admit it, they are there and everyone doesn't need to know about each others faults, but many need to start realising what is on the inside is what counts. Girls are not the only culprits of this dilemma, as many men are also suffering with self esteem issues. Many men are so self conscious of their weight, their hair and even what their girlfriends look like. It shouldn't be the case at all, as this is what is promoting teen suicides all over the world and it is such a horrible thing.

Me being still a young person myself as a part of the Gen Y. I see it everyday, being involved in the fashion world it is the most critical place and career you can ever wish for. But I do it because I love it. Yes when I was younger I was always wondering how come celebrities are always looking so glamorous and beautiful, and why can't I. I was always looking up celebrities tips for hair, make-up and skin products you name it. But I would always try these things they were saying and nothing would ever work. It wasn't until I did get a bit older that I actually realised these celebrities are loaded with money and can actually get any surgery they wanted to look beautiful and also had many professional working for them that were able to photoshop the photographs that we see today in everyday magazines.

I know I can't change the way everyone thinks about themselves or the way everyone acts towards themselves but even if I do get my message across to just one person I will be happy as these videos really did change my view on many of the topics I have discussed and it will change yours as well. Please share this post with as many people as you possibly can as I would love to make aware of this issue to many before it does get any worse, as it is such a sad topic.

Just remember everyone is beautiful in their own way, and be yourself as everybody else is already taken!

Backpacks being all the rage

(source: www.businessoffashion.com)

The common backpack has become more than just a bag of a moment these days, it is so much more. It has become a wardrobe staple!

Two decades ago within New York, US, it was the the simple backpack that placed Prada on the fashion map, where it helped the fashion house build a fashion empire and a household name. These days, these backpacks are more associated with schooling life. But lately these wonderful creations have re-emerged within the high fashion context; as a street style staple and also a retail sell out!

Miuccia Prada's backpack that was produced was made out of the same nylon material that was used by the Italian army for it's parachutes, but it took as while for people to catch on. “No one wanted the backpack because it didn’t scream luxury,” Mrs Prada recalled to Dana Thomas, author of Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster, in 2006. Which is true as this backpack was introduced in 1984 and it wasn't until a whole decade later that the black nylon backpack achieved it's glory stage worth $450, and it also brought in a rage worldwide for everything Prada!

These days there are backpacks being made out of alligator skin, fur and everything exciting. The backpack in the past was used as a more casual staple for the wardrobe than a fashion piece that it is used for today, as fashion houses are introducing bags with luxurious textures.

Gucci, Saint Laurent and Christopher Kane have all launched their own fashionable backpacks, rendered in calf hair or leather, and retailing for north of $2,000. Meanwhile, Alexander Wang’s $975 Marti backpack “is a classic style in their collection now,” Ogura says. And Phillip Lim recently introduced an $895 backpack version of his flagship Pashli handbag.

“They are having a real moment,” says Phillip Lim. “Both men’s and women’s styles are selling well. We can’t keep them in the stores.” Adds Humberto Leon, co-founder of Opening Ceremony: “Backpacks have always sold for us, but there does seem to be more traction nowadays.”

I believe that the backpack is a necessity in every humans wardrobe as it will always go to good use. And there are so many health benefits about the backpack as well! It being good for your spinal core giving you better strength instead of carrying a handbag on one shoulder (that is if you keep both straps on your back). Yes I own one! There great. Definitely a keeper for summer coming up! So cool and casual, being able to walk in comfort and ease and also look great!

Sunday Funday means a great Monday

We all know that the weekend has come to an end when your starting to pack your lunch for the end of the week. The dreaded Monday blue's are coming on. But sooner than we know, it'll be Friday again (that's how fast this years going) it's crazy...

With all the fashion week shows going on the past couples of weeks, who wants to go to work when you'd much rather be at home watching them! (I know I wouldn't pass up the offer). We all know everyone dreads Monday, they are the worst and I can't stand them. But I suppose, what can you do? Cause you can't really do anything about it..

So many people out there are doing jobs that they aren't satisfied in doing. They really are not enjoying it, the environment, the people etc.. And everyone who sits back and says 'why don't you just go and get a job you enjoy'. Yeah it's easy to say, but so many people out there are very afraid of going out into the real world and speaking up. Many; want a pay rise and will not go and confront their boss about it, even if they know that they deserve a better wage. This is such a bad thing in Australia these days.

Your all properly wondering why I am talking about this, but the economy is the biggest thing in Australia these days, and most would agree that 'money does make the world go round' but at the same time people say that they are happy even without money. Yes you don't have to be a genius to realise that you do need money to be stable in life. Because you do. It doesn't mean you need to be a million-are to be happy, and you may not even have much money and are living day to day, and you are still happy. But the main thing is, is that really would you be happy still if your house and assets were all taken by the bank and you and your family were in debt, forced out onto the streets? No! you would be 'un-happy' and trying to realise and fix what/where you went wrong. And then this brings me back to the first part of the post, 'Australian's are unable to speak up for what in right in their jobs'.

The economy of Australia is mostly about jobs, with all the crisis of people coming over from other countries and 'stealing' our jobs is a massive issue today. But the main issue is those that are too afraid to speak up in their jobs. Many people are doing jobs that are actually getting paid really well, and hate it! So getting a pay rise isn't the issue in this case. Realising money isn't everything is the issue, and there are so many people that have literally made themselves so sick over the fact that they can't address changing jobs, as they live in a nice house and work so many hours. I cannot sit here and tell these people that what they are doing wrong because they may feel like it is the only option, but I can tell you this much. Literally making yourself sick with an illness because of your job environment, you really cannot survive to work there anymore. And that is the problem, many people will not go out and even look for a similar paying job but in a different field of work, as they feel as though they are not able to speak up. Same goes with people agreeing that they deserve a pay rise. This is such a major issue as it is not right, you should be getting paid for the amount of work that you believe you are doing. Who believes that they get paid correctly for the amount of hard work they put in each day?? Not many, as only 2 hands went up in a classroom of 30 when the question was asked.. And the next question was who has spoken up and asked for a pay rise, only 3 of the hands went up this time. People need to speak up, many employees will never confront you about a pay rise as it is money out of their pocket that they are giving to you. So you need to ask them for it. Explain your reasons and state why you deserve the pay rise, and if they don't agree then find another job that you know you will get paid correctly, on time and enjoy. There are so many different jobs out there these days and many should take a moment to explore their options.

You are all wondering why this has got to do with fashion. Fashion is not just a subject but it is a business as well. It is mainly a business to be exact. Yeah many people can write about the up and coming designers, the amazing skirt that was shown at London fashion week, etc. But many are not writing about the crisis's that are happening everyday behind closed doors of the all some fashion industry, as it isn't always just glitz and glamour, it is hard work, and you have to be ready to take anything on. Yes you can have great designs, and a great sense of humour and win anyone over, but if you are not business savvy then you are going no where. Well I wouldn't say no where, because you may have luck on your side and fly through the fashion industry but good luck to you, because you will crash at some stage. So watch the news, know what is going on around the world within the fashion world and get some knowledge and you will come out on top I can promise you that!

Heres some Monday Inspiration to get your mood going, and to remember if you think something isn't right, then SPEAK UP.

Putting his foot in the door

Peter Pilotto is one to be marking his territory in London Fashion Week this year. With his beautiful Spring 2014 collection being a massive success on the runway. By giving his work a cinematic quality he has evoked a world of gaudy colour.  In the beginning De Vos and Pilotto expanded on their engineered prints and embroideries, one in particular was the lace. They layered lace over brightly coloured printed fabrics, that was only used as a surface fabric.

Pilotto's take on the hourglass silhouette at London fashion week was amazing. The sculpted full skirt was the most emphasised shape of the day. All credit goes out to De Vos and Pilotto as determined as they were, they both discovered an expression for the full skirt shape that didn't seem costumey or/and atavistic. And Pilotto's 'girl' was definately demure, showing all of her muscular sides, celine-like sleeves and skin winking from cut-out tops to dresses.

There were short, printed pencil skirts, that featured a kind of half ruffle; that were paired with skin baring tops, the flutter of which echoed the ruffles undulating form. It had the same looks as some dark creature that had gotten ahold of the model's legs and was trying to pull her into the deep. But of course De Vos and Pilotto made that look 'cute'. The collection was definately a show stopper with them marking their name at London Fashion week once and for all.

Resort 2014 Alexander McQueen

Resort 2014Alexander Mcqueen
JUNE 22, 2013LONDON
By Tim Blanks
http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/2014RST-AMCQUEEN
The most striking image of Alexander McQueen's Fall collection was the gilded, caged face. You could read a book into that, just like you could interpret McQueen's Resort collection as a release for Sarah Burton. There was something so free and organic about the clothing and accessories that it was almost as though Burton had become a lady of the canyon…Laurel Canyon, that is. Early on in the genesis of the collection, Corinne Day's photos of Kate Moss in an American Indian headdress had caught someone's eye. Carefree, vibrant youth—that was the spirit Burton sought. The fact that she managed to wire it to a classic McQueen trope like Travis Banton's hyper-waisted 1930s silhouette was a pretty accurate gauge of how effectively she has twisted the signatures she inherited.

It was actually the forties that snared Burton's imagination, particularly the clothes that working women wore while their men were at war. Collections often start somewhere like that and then career off somewhere else, and this one was no exception. Still, the little dresses in a canvas cotton with their dungaree straps and unfinished seams had a sturdy Rosie the Riveter feel. Even so, under the canvas skirt were seven layers of broderie anglaise petticoats. This will always be the strange, effortful world of McQueen, where denims are patchworked together from 11 different washes and every single crocheted, brocaded, floral-ed, butterflied, broderie anglaise-ed scrap in a patchworked evening dress has been specially created. Meaning that, for Burton, release comes one look at a time.

Oh well, never mind that, because the result let the sunshine in. When you say forties and functional, the American designer Claire McCardell springs to mind, and there were echoes: a drawstring neckline on an embossed peasant top, or a prettily bowed fichu neckline. But McCardell or no, there was a real flavor of Americana in the collection. A nubuck calfskin dress—patchworked, embossed, whipstitched—felt like the product of an artisanal studio in the bowels of the Hollywood Hills. So did the tapestry-effect trousers and crocheted keyhole gown. The suede saddlebag styled as a clutch was the perfect accessory. If this was literally a new frontier for McQueen, it was—as all frontiers should be—full of promise.
